Thanks for pointing this out.
This was an interesting case. It looks like SC changed how their streams are formatted. Video segments are no longer playable independently without an init segment. Since that init segment only comes at the start of the stream (or when the video quality changes), it wouldn't be the first thing in the resulting file unless you hit the download button immediately after loading the stream, and so the video would not be playable.
I changed the app to look for init segments and ensure they're added to the downloaded file first thing, and it seems to work.
It looks like this change also defeated other downloaders like Video Download Helper, so this app may now be the only easy way to download SC streams that doesn't require knowing how to retrieve the playlist url.
unfortunately, it is not working. downloads are stuck at first segment and not downloading beyond 1.2 Kb

Two things I would like to iterate on.
1) sc is doing some weird crap with their streams for quite some time already and I am not really sure if the side effect are the indented purpose.
(I don't think they try to defeat downloaders, but to modernize?)
If you wrap it in ffmpeg, it will work. Most downloaders are pretty basic and don't really follow the RFCs.
The init chunk is a way to make switching resolutions more fluent without having to wait for the next P frame.
2) cb seems to have a split brain problem every now and then, and then the db has some catching up to do.

1 - Good to know. is my fix re. the init segment not working correctly? I tested it a bit and it seemed ok to me, but I never personally use SC
my knowledge of HLS is limited, but the app downloader basically caches the init segment on load and prepends the DL with that segment.
2 - Can you elaborate? and when you see it, is the app using the native CB API or the server DB? (in other words, do you click the big red error message that says CB is blocked?)

Yes when a particular "downloader" is spotted and fingerprinted, Stripchat may put some safeguards. The intended purpose is to protect the content delivery network and bandwidth.

never seen that one in action, are you talking about the user agent?

CDN providers offer advanced tools to monitor, identify patterns and fingerprint hosts (I say "hosts" because talking specifically of "user agents" is not relevant at network layer).
Stripchat protects its network infrastructure from overload and abuse by using network layer safeguards against specific patterns and threats. If you or the user agent you are using act as a threat to this infrastructure, you will actually see it in action.
Same goes for Chaturbate except that they have a more "aggressive" and visible strategy (captcha, requests quota, etc.)
Mainstream cam sites such as Stripchat and Chaturbate serve their streams and recordings using HLS (in addition to WebRTC if you set ultra-low latency mode on or use Exclusive show/C2C while using Stripchat). They don't actually try to prevent users (concretely, user agents) from recording or downloading anything as long as it does not disturb the website. At best, they may help individuals to remove infringing content or act proactively to stop a service which seriously pose a business or legal threat for them.
(2023-04-20 11:43)csh Wrote: Back in the days with camshowhub, none of that was the case. Rate limiting yeah, however also recently the only thing I ever noticed was rate limiting taking place. (There were special circumstances, but that was not regularly)
Maybe we define threats differently. CB and SC only use CF for front-end, the whole streaming layer is off-loaded from it to avoid paying for the traffic. (CF enterprise plan is pretty expensive when you pull a lot of raw bandwidth)

Yeah, you're right. there was a difference in chrome that was causing a crash in the downloader. should work now.

Is there a setting in Opera that I need to turn on, or do you need to possibly enable Opera within the app? I've come to like Opera more than Firefox and I'd like to avoid keeping both browsers open because it creates problems with Replay Video Capture. OS is win10. Hmm, I'm not sure, never use opera.
The way the downloader works is that it spins up a webworker, and that webworker acts as a 'server' to download from. We start a 'file download' on this fake server, then every time we get a segment of video, we send it to this 'server', and it echoes the segment back into the download.
If I had to guess, maybe opera doesn't support something necessary for this to work. I will take a closer look at it in a couple weeks.

I did change the link it was using to use an affiliate link, but it seems that if the model is offline it redirects to the current top room. I changed it to a link that should always just stay on the target room.
